Steam Railway Grotto

Despite the appalling weather the families who came to the Steam Railway today to ride the Santa Specials seemed to be having a great time.

About four weeks before the event a group of railway volunteers take over the video room and transform it into Santa's Grotto complete with a couple of model railways and numerous illuminated features. This picture shows only a small corner of the entire grotto.The young children and even the adults find it completely magical with so much to see before being taken to meet Santa by his elves.

With mulled wine,mince pies; magic shows, an indoor roundabout and presents from Santa followed by a ride on a real steam train it is a wonderful day out for the whole family with many travelling over from the mainland year after year.

The forecast for the Christmas period is dire but in true Brit. spirit I don't think it will stop visitors from coming along for a thoroughly good time.
