Solstice +1

Having been denied the sight of the sun at the Winter Solstice, a
day I celebrate more than Christmas, the 24 hours of rain relented to allow a wind blown but exhilarating walk around the coast at St. Catherine's Lighthouse.

It was a struggle to keep the tripod steady in the gale force wind but at least the sun was visible shortly before it set. Unbelievably a small group of surfers were riding some huge waves just out of shot. A few minutes later a huge shower cloud engulfed the island so it was back home for tea and crumpets.

We are now bracing for another forecast 24 hours of torrential rain and gales. Stay safe everybody especially those who are travelling.
