The last bookshop
well maybe not quite, but this must be one of only a handful of second hand bookshop in Manchester situated behind the Art of Tea cafe in Didsbury A hidden treasure. |i went in search of a copy of Barnaby Rudge by Dickens, having heard it mentioned on Radio 4's In Our Time programme. Dickens focused on the Gordon Riots of 1780 dimly remembered from schooldays, and probably of less significance than Peterloo which has its 200th anniversary this year. But both events show the brutality of the State when it feels its interests are really threatened. Make no mistake the same would happen again if the growing resistance to political elites across the spectrum continues to grow.
