budding

A few bits of last minute shopping this morning in the seemingly endless rain, followed by lunch. Our friend texted +1/2 to say they were going to see our drummer's son playing drums in a band put together as part of diy rockshop; it's a scheme that runs during the school holidays for children to learn to play instruments, write songs and be part of a band. They spend a week in the same rehearsal studios we use then do a gig at the end.

So off we trooped, me, +1/3 and +2/3 along with our friends to the Twa Tams in Perth. It's slightly disconcerting to see so many young children in a pub... The bands were really good! First up was the singer/songwriter/slightly older group (maybe 14-16), next was the 11-14 group and finally the 9-11 group. The tightest group was probably the middle group however the youngest group was the most fun. They had everyone on kazoos at one point and one of the guitarists pulled off a very passable AC/DC solo.
