Lyveden New Bield
Another cold day, but at least the morning was relatively bright. Pete and I went to Lyveden New Bield, to recce the route of a walk we're leading in June with the local Wildlife Group. One of the features of the site is the large areas of recently created herb-rich grassland, supporting millions of cowslips at this time of year. By the time we visit again, the meadows should be a delightful mix of purple, yellow and white and will be full of bees and butterflies.
We had a very enjoyable time and even took a bit of time out for coffee, cheese scones and coffee cake. A very civilised way to spend part of the Bank Holiday.
