White Throated Warbler

"And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops—at the bent spray's edge—
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!"

I captured a 'wise thrush' on our early morning walk this morning against beautiful lime green young leaves and thought of Home Thoughts From Abroad. It's such a wonderful time of year here, no wonder Robert Browning yearned for England when he was in Italy.

It was raining when we went for a walk after lunch so we headed for Longlands hide to sit it out. Once the rain had stopped we walked to the Bittern Hide and I shot sedge and reed warblers. On the way back to the car another warbler, a whitethroat from Browning's poem, was singing from a bramble bush.
