If you can't beat them...

Passer domesticus

Back to normality (what ever that is), so its Saturday and we are at the Lodge preparing it for the guests who arrive in the afternoon.  This little cock House Sparrow was behaving most strangely.

He would sit on the chair back staring at the window and then fly to the window hang in mid air fluttering for a second or so and then either fly away or go back to the chair.  I am assuming he was defending his territory against the male sparrow he could see (his reflection).

The theory weakens a little as he was flying high above where his reflection would be and at times perched on the handle of the sliding glass door where he would have clearly seen himself but didn't attack.  Very strange behaviour.
