I joined the plugged-in-screen-fixated commuters trudging silently into their work here, or sucked into the depths of the Jubilee Line on the fastest escalators this side of Moscow.

The seagulls circling new Billingsgate fish market and the smell of fish being washed out of refrigerator lorries reminded me of Peterhead 500 miles away from where I think most of these lorries have come.

A successful second day at the Conference. The event concluded with a splendid formal dinner overlooking The Thames.
