Groynes

Without these Canadian spruce groynes there would be little sand left on Portobello beach. They stand as sentinels against the unseen eddies and silent currents that strive to steal the sand.

As we walked in the welcome sunshine we mused on how long will we have to wait until something similar is found to fend off Corona? It will not be anytime soon was our conclusion.

Those redundant cruise liners could be here for ages too.
