Along the River
My journey to work this week has been enlivened by Radio 3, they have been broadcasting live from the River Severn. Monday from the source near the Hafren Forest, Tuesday from Ironbridge, Wednesday from the Severn Ham, and today from Purton Hulks. It's the sort of thing the BBC does best.
The River Irwell is not quite the Severn. But here it is in Salford performing one of its many meanders. This time at Clifton Country Park. Years ago it would have been grim - the Wet Earth Colliery. Now it is very green, with the May Blossom adding splashes of white. And a lot of hawking swallows.
