The Bell Tower
Went in to Berwick with MrM first thing, as he had an appointment with the dental hygienist. Just enough time while he was there for me to walk through the Greenses to the Bell Tower.
Apparently, bell towers were common features of a mediaeval towns' defences, providing a lookout point and a place from which to raise the alarm. This Elizabethan tower, which was built in 1577 on the remains of a mediaeval building, is the only example left in Britain.
Not much time to stand and admire the sea view from the tower before heading back to the dentist's to meet MrM. Then it was a quick coffee, a trip to the DIY store for yet more paint, and a supermarket shop, before driving back to Wooler.
About to change in to my decorating gear to continue work in the living room...
