Probably the only case I know of where a farmer causes "terror" to one & all by putting up such a "no entry" sign on a path and by all accounts is extremely aggressive to anyone whether on foot, bike, horse or car and regardless of who they are. I am not even sure it is 100% legal but seemingly nobody is prepared to tackle the old f***.

In the early days, we used to ignore it, particularly when out riding as it is a very useful connection from our village to another nice riding area and the only one that does not involve any normal traffic roads.

At times, he puts largely hidden strings of barbed wire on the ground & has even been known to take moulds of people's (incl the official local hunter's) car tyres. I have

On all the maps it is shown as a path. The Geotag is placed at the point where the sign is and in Satellite mode on full zoom you can see the sign. In the extra photo you can just about make out wheré the spot is taken from our village and showing the village where the farmer lives on the horizon top left & the sign is just below it near the wooden hut. I suspect that even if the path was fully open, there would be less than one walker per day using it.

Bavaria (unlike certain EU countries) has a simple 40 page written Constitution, even available in English, which describes, in general, the rights & duties of citizens & residents. The Allies were involved in writing & approving this document in 1946. It is the basis on which all laws passed by Parliament must abide by.

In the 4th Section dealing with Economy, Section 3, "Agriculture" it gives farmers lots of special rights but also in Art. 163 Para (2) states:

"The land used for agriculture and forestry of all sizes shall serve the people as a whole."


And in Section 2 "Education, Nature & Traditions", Art. 141 Para (3) it states:


"The enjoyment of natural beauty and recreation in the outdoors, in particular, the access to forests and mountain meadows, the use of waterways and lakes and the appropriation of wild fruit to the extent customary in the respective region shall be permitted to every person.  In this respect, every person shall be obliged to treat nature and the landscape with care.  The state and the municipalities shall be entitled and obliged to maintain free access to mountains, lakes, rivers and other beautiful sceneries and to create free access by restricting property rights and to create hiking trails and recreational parks if need be."

One of those strange but luckily seldom cases of stupidity.
