Lindisfarne
A wonderful day on Lindisfarne Island. with Rose and Rob (Hildasrose) - John had disappeared off with Pepper on one of his long walks which aren't photography oriented! Rose and I were mesmerised by the old boats turned into sheds around the bay and the general 'stuff' involved in fishing - some of which looked as if it hadn't been used for a very long time. We had visited the abbey ruins and the graveyard but were so distracted by the area around the harbour that we didn't make it to the Castle.
We detoured on the way 'home' to look at the field of purple flowers near Banburgh Castle that we had noticed from the beach the other day - we thought from conversations with locals that it was a field of red campion planted to attract and support wildlife (it looked more purple than red to us but what do we know?) - an extra which is a double exposure.
Then - bad news for Rose with a call that her mother is very poorly and near the end. Although not surprising it was a great shock. Rose is a wonderful person and thoughtful of her father and family so they have both packed up and headed home. We have had a wonderful week and enjoyed each other's company and friendship.
Hoping to meet up with blipper Dollydoug tomorrow before leaving this area, John and I have a few more days to wend our way back south in the motorhome. Stunning weather so far while we have been here,
