I have written this before, but it's still true. Despite all that my mother has lost (balance, executive function, many many words, basic comprehension), she still has eagle-sharp eyes for anything shiny. She started our walk by picking up a stick and a few pine cones, and then she saw this bit of copper wire lighting, which she then wrapped around her stick, making it look very much like a magic wand.
