Turtle Release

We were able to participate in the Great Christmas Turtle Release of 2012 thanks to our friends Bob & Shannon. The house next door to their Playa Blanca home cultivates turtles recovered from the beach and when they reach sufficient size, releases them into the ocean. Tonight was one such release. It was an amazing experience to help these little turtles get started on their life in the sea. I captured the one shown here as he was swept away by one of the many crashing waves. The episode produced so many good photos that it was hard to choose just one. My other options (visible here) were not near as dynamic, so this was the one for today's entry.
