Family dinner on Christmas Day

A two hour time zone change, coupled with an early start to the day before they left, and loads of excitement after they arrived, meant that the grandchildren slept very late for Christmas morning, not waking until almost 0700.

Santa sacks disposed of, it was time for breakfast, and then preparing for a middle of the day dinner. Inside, as the outdoors was windy and wet. Our older daughter and her two boys arrived about midday, the ham was extracted from the oven and the vegetables from their various pots, and we all sat down.

By using the timer on the Pentax, I was able to get everyone set up, start the countdown and get back to my seat before 12s was elapsed. The kids' Greatgrandma managed the walk across the back yards of our adjacent properties to join us for dinner. (I am about to help her back as soon as this is posted). Very pleasing to have all of our children and their children with us at the same time.

Exchange of presents was followed by Grandpa asking who wanted to go to the beach. Three boys instantly responded; the girl had to think about it for a time. Once we got down the cliff to the beach, she had at least as much fun as any of the others. Tsuken joined me in providing adult presence while they cavorted in the waves; larger and more foaming than is usual for our beach.

Back up the path and inside again, where Christmas pudding was being served. Children of all ages now sorting out how to use the new possessions. So I've ducked down to the store room/library/study to post today's blip.

I wish every one a really happy time with family as is possible for you, and also hope that the coming year is positive.
