What a mess
Some may remember our electricity line being brought down to the ground in March.
We have always assumed that the offending tree belonged to the Bavarian State Forestry Commission and as we are taxpayers & some of the tree is lying on our property, we decided to "reap" some of the personal cost by taking what we could for firewood.
Also important to try & get as much of the tree out of the stream as it is seriously blocking the flow and as floods at this time of year are not seldom, the tree must be removed. There is also another tree that the company who are contracted by the electricity co to keep the lines free, felled about 4 years ago & we were told the owner would remove the trunk - he is an absentee landlord & doesn't seem to care that the trunk has slid back into the stream.
Posting late & with hindsight, I can now report that the situation is very complicated. Angie bumped into the State Forester while out riding & mentioned to him. He came by with his GPS Boundary marker & announced it wasn't his tree which to me meant it must be the parishes. Now preparing for this Blip, I double checked the online Bavarian Atlas & am now of the opinion that the offending tree is our property! See extra photo - on the top image, I have added:
1) red line is the offending fallen tree
2) yellow line the trunk of the old tree
3) the true path of the stream.
Sadly the satellite photo doesn't show the stream which is hidden by the trees. The boundary lines were all drawn up decades ago before a programme of straightening the stream was carried out but the property rights remain.
All very complicated & maybe I can try to contact our local "Feldgeschworene" which I talked about the other day. Perhaps he can mark where the boundaries are.
It is important as there are at least two more very large old sick looking trees that endanger our line plus the offending fallen one is still alive & now touching the lines again. If we saw the main part of it, the smaller branches will again land on the line. Anxious to get a better idea so that when the electricity company come in the summer to replace the 3 poles on our property that at the same time the trees are removed. The State Forester has already said we can fell any of the trees on his side that are dangerous.
Apologies: So complicated I can't even explain the situation clearly.
PS Apologies to Angie for including her - my wading trousers are not exactly the fashion hit!
