Above And Beyond...

Dappled Light

After taking our things back to Sainsbury's to buy back 25% cheaper next week, we drove to Pontypool to see the oldest daughter and granddaughter Amelia, before we go away next week for a month.

Amelia was unusually irritable due to lack of sleep, a cold, and teething but after a sleep she only wanted me rather than her mum as was the case when we arrived. The daughter's partner had been to Birmingham with his dad (72) as his dad had bought a £46K BMW i8 that was black wrapped velvet with gold, some money from an inheritence. A bit vulgar to our taste and we could think of better things to do with that money!

This evening I went along a lane from our house and liked the light dappling on this field and lighting an old oak and buttercups. The farmer, Oliver, sneaked up on me and we spent a good half hour catching up on news as we hadn't seen each other for a couple of years. His dad had died and his 25 year old son, Tom, who worked on the farm had left as Oliver wouldn't make him a partner, despite having a monthly salary that most would envy. Families, eh?!
