Today in France: European elections, Fête des Mères (Mother's Day) and our second concert. Possibly one or two other things too.
I went to vote, despite not having one here, ate a very delicious lunch cooked by a father, and joined the rest of the choir for our second concert, singing with more aplomb and better dynamics than yesterday. The programme was two baroque pieces, by Charpentier (French) and Purcell (English), chosen to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Grenoble and Oxford's twinning. During a lull after the general applause and before the applause specifically for the soloists, a loud voice called from the back of the hall, 'Restez avec nous, les anglais !' If only...
