Detail of painted lace

Busy day at Hill of Tarvit despite the weather and great questions from some of our younger visitors. Future Volunteers perhaps.

A few days I featured the Princess Anne look-a-like painting and a few people remarked on the painting of the lacework.

However, we have a much finer example for today.

The painting is Portrait of a Lady by Paulus Moreelse. It was painted in 1635. The complete painting is 80cm x 65cm.

Unfortunately, lighting conditions were such that I could not capture the whole painting because of the amount of glare.

The extra is of the rhododendron next to the drive.
