Diary of an Edinburgher

Coffee overdose!

Off down to Leith to visit my osteopath again this morning. I must say, I wasn’t overly enthusiastic because I didn’t really feel much happened last time. But I had a very positive session today. He chatted much more than last time, made lots of suggestions, including positive thinking and diet/nutrition. Cannabis and turmeric were also mentioned. In fact, he suggested I speak to his receptionist, as she's a nutritionist about to complete her training and join the practice, and so I had a very interesting conversation with her.

I have long suspected that it's not just my knees, but I’ve got fibromyalgia, most probably, though doctors are loath to diagnose this, as it's vague, and anyway - basically untreatable. But the young receptionist has had it, and cured herself over a couple of years, through diet. Sooooo.. I’m going gluten-free for a month (at least) to see if there's any improvement. I feel much more positive now that I can see a faint flicker of light at the end of a very long tunnel...

When I left the practice I walked round to try and find the new Banksy, but I had no success. But I had a LOT of success in the flat white department. In fact, probably too much success - three of 'em! Which is not ideal in a couple of hours.

I also had a wander round the waterfront and discovered the 'Tool Library'. I'd hadn’t heard of it until I donated my old tools to it on a freeby site. What a great idea!

It was such a dreich day - I do feel sorry for tourists. The whole area around the National Gallery has been cordoned off for ages - but at least this part of the cordon has been made a good use of, with a famous old painting of the area as it was being developed. I do hope they have it back to normal for the Festival!

Hedge looks gorgeous...
