woke up this morning ......

... and there's a man on the roof.

A few weeks ago we discovered a leak from the skylights in our roof.  It's taken a while to sort out because it requires a specialist team (preserved building, old roof, inaccessible ... etc).  These guys left Surrey at 5.00am to get here this morning.  

Anniemay has been more concerned about the buddleia outside our window (see extras), than the leak and keeps nagging asking them to cut it down while they risk their lives to keep our carpet dry.

I think about chaining myself to the plant, because a couple of days ago I notice goldfinches eating the seed heads.  I didn't know they had a taste for buddleia.  

"Hmm", she says as she watches the cherry picker driving away "the goldfinch gets to live another day."
