A taste of things to come.
The blackberries have started to flower. Summer is on it’s way.
Unfortunately these are not for picking as they have to be left for the wild life.
I spotted them on our walk round St Aidan’s RSPB Reserve, just outside Leeds. Looks like it is going to be a good year.
Quite warm but dull. Good for walking, but dreadful light for taking photos.
We heard the bitterns booming, but no sightings.
Still an enjoyable walk, round what was an open cast coal mine not many years ago.
Swifts swooping everywhere.
A large colony of black headed gulls nesting(see extra). A very raucous chorus.
Also families of greylag geese, and some cute little great crested grebes being fed a large fish by mum. Love the black and white stripes which make them look like humbugs.
sorry no good photos.
Certainly glad we changed our days around, and did the shopping yesterday.
