Leeds Castle

This morning I left home quite early to be at Leeds Castle by 9.30am as I was hosting an arts society event. We had a private tour of both the upstairs bedrooms and the downstairs servants rooms which was very interesting. A castle has existed on this site since 1119, but the castle in it's current form is largely due to the last owner Lady Baillie who bought the castle in 1926. It is a very popular tourist destination as it is one of the few complete castles near to London. Today it is very popular for weddings and conferences, where the guests stay in the beautiful bedrooms that once were host to famous people like JF Kennedy, famous movie stars and politicians.

After the tour of the castle we had coffee, and then went on a garden tour. The gardens are very interesting and a bit different from the usual English country house garden - there is a lovely Mediterranean section where some very unusual plants grow. I have added some extras of the entrance garden and a view over the moat.

I got home quite late this afternoon and have quickly uploaded this as I am about to go up to London to meet Gavin. It has been a busy day!
