Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care
A line from the carol "Away in a Manger"
The two children were sat looking through the arch window into the Cellarium at Fountains Abbey, where the Boxing Day carol service was held.
The sun was shining on their little faces and I thought it made a wonderful picture.
As last year we met up with some of our walking club friends for the Carol Service at Fountains Abbey. This is held after the Pilgrimage from Ripon Cathedral, across the fields.
Away in a Manger was one of the carols we all sang, accompanied by a small brass band.
It is a lovely service led by the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds.
Afterwards we walk to the Seven Bridges, Studley Roger, Deer Park and back to the National Trust Visitors' Centre.
Just what we needed after all the eating (and drinking) on Christmas Day!
(Must make sure you are well wrapped up as it is very cold and drafty sat in those ruins!!!)
Now back home, and a nice hot cup of tea and a piece of Christmas cake!
Not sure if I can face any more food just now!! But may be a little later!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day.
Happy Boxing Day everyone!
