Niki

This is a photo of a newspaper cutting from way back that has just been sent to me by a friend from my Fleet Street days. She spotted it on the BBC website, and it was a lovely surprise as I mislaid the original and so hadn’t seen this for decades.
It dates back to the early 1970s, when I was motoring and motorsport correspondent of the London Evening News. Brands Hatch was our home race circuit, and at big international events there we presented 100 bottles of champagne to the fastest in practice/pole position driver. Such a happy reminder of Niki Lauda’s youthful career - and of mine!
