National Archive

The WidWed challenge this week is history and on that score I'm well placed to get a blip this week.

I've chosen to blip the State Archive of Rome which is in the baroque heart of the city and two steps away from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, and inside the complex of Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza antique headquarters of Studium Urbis, the University of Rome founded by Pope Boniface VIII in 1303.  Besides its substantial and important collection, the Archive is also worth visiting for its marvellous architecture - the work of Francesco Borromini. I haven't included a shot showing the building as a whole because of it's size and the many vertical and horizontal lines; I think more time and skill are needed to do the building justice.
