Dominic and Bumblebee

Today's the day ……………………. when boys will be boys

Grandson Dominic was telling me today about the present love of his life - and it was all sounding very familiar.

It seems that Transformers  still capture the imaginations of young boys (and maybe young girls?).  And just in case you don't know, as the blurb puts it - Transformers are a group of sentient self-configuring modular extraterrestrial robotic lifeforms.  Bumblebee (designation B-127) is a fictional robot superhero and one of the Autobots - the ones that transform themselves into cars.  In most versions, Bumblebee is a small black-and-yellow striped Volkswagen Beetle until he becomes that rather terrifying creature behind Dominic on his bedroom wall.

Yes, I know a fair bit now about the new generation of Transformers.  It's all a bit more high-tech with amazing graphics - but still the same sort of thing that the last generation of little boys was captivated by ……………….
