Henley

We chose a very wet day for our WI coach outing to the Henley area. We first went to Greys Court, an enchanting small Tudor house now looked after by the National Trust. it has been through the hands of many families, but the most recent were the Brunner family, interesting to us as WI members as Lady Brunner played a major role in the development of our WI College. The house was welcoming and friendly and there were many of Lady Brunner's needleworks around. The kitchen was attractive and homely. (See extra)
After a snack in the NT cafe we went on to the Henley Rowing Museum, an award winning museum with exhibits of history making rowing boats, a story of the River Thames and a delightful Wind in the Willows exhibit.
By the end of the afternoon the sun had come out and I enjoyed a walk along the bank of the Thames, towards the lovely town of Henley. It took two hours to get home with very heavy Friday night traffic on the M4 and the M25. A long day.
