Appleby Horse Fair

Friday 7th June 2019

Last year at LPH I enjoyed photographing the horse fair so much I put the date in my diary for this year straight away. I may not have gone on my own today so it was great that I had arranged to meet up with Elspeth. Many thanks to JohnG, who allowed us to meet at his and leave one car, saving on parking. It was good to see him and he provided a cuppa at each end of the day too.

We started at the river for about half an hour, then moved up to the road where they practise trotting, it was very busy up there. After quite a while we wandered back through the fair and then found a place to sit for our picnic. The rain forecast was a little late but started just as we finished lunch. We headed back to the river, getting a bit wet, but then the rain stopped again. We spent a lot more time by the river and headed back late afternoon when the rain really came down.

I didn't take as many photos as last year, only 2,277 this year! :-)) I've been through them all and now only have 70 that I'm quite pleased with.

It was a great day. Thanks Elspeth and John.
