Open gardens, Day 1
The morning and early afternoon was a washout - rain and wind persisted until about 3pm. It then cleared up a bit, though it is still rather windy, and we went out into the garden to get some photos. We've had just 8 or 9 lots of visitors - one hardy couple on bikes. The forecast for tomorrow is a little better, so hopefully we'll get more people round.
We've cordoned off the corner of the meadow, to discourage people from walking on it, and in particular to prevent them accidentally standing on our orchids. W has mown a winding path through the meadow further down the garden. We bought the "Crime scene" tape as a bit of fun a little while ago, when we were reseeding an area of lawn, and it has come in useful for closing off areas of the garden we prefer people to not access - see extra.
Although it's not been busy, we started quite early, getting the last minute jobs done, and it has felt tiring. As we've now finished for today, I'm looking forward to shutting up the gate and settling down for the evening with a gin.
