UVM Morgan Farm and Figure, the first Morgan

A most exceptional day. We didn’t really have much idea what to do today. Susan had seen information about the Morgan Horse Farm at Weybridge. What a place that turned out to be once we’d found it. The sat nav wanted to take us through a low coved bridge. No way. We found an alternative route which took us the other side of that bridge.

The Morgan horses were fantastic. The mares and their foals were out and much admired by all the visitors. Such a relaxed and interesting place to visit, fascinating history and very noble and distinguished animals.

After lunch we drove to Branbury State Park taking a trail up to Silver Lake. The mosquitos were out in force adding to the bites we’d accumulated overnight. It was worth the effort. Silver Lake is a serene place, somewhere you can wild camp (mosquitos protection required), fish, picnic and swim. On the way down we detoured to Lenny’s Lookout which gave wonderful views over Lake Dunmore and in the distance the Adirondacks in New York State. Fascinating to think that the rocks that make up these mountain ranges are part of the same mountains ranges of Norway, Scotland and Northern Island.

We’re not sitting in the Paddlers Inn enjoying a couple of pints of IPA before dinner, wine, ice cream ......
