Changing of the guard

Not a brilliant shot but I feel so lucky that I witnessed these two grebes changing over their egg-sitting duty this evening. They have 4 eggs.
The one who was being relieved went off for a quick dive then brought back a few beakfulls of weed to add to the nest and then disappeared off for a good preen.
At the other end of the reservoir the coot is also still sitting.
There were still 8 mandarin ducklings but I could only see one mum (there were two earlier in the week).
What a treat despite anklefull of midge bites :)
