More Dollocks
Blip tells me that I embarked on the refurbishment of vintage door locks not very long after we arrived - getting on for five years ago. The saga continues but mainly on a pragmatic basis.
The recent fire inspection requires a closer on a door that the previous fire inspection didn't (I didn't think that was supposed to happen, but hey), so another door needs to shut without human intervention, which isn't quite happening with the current state of this one.
This is the pretty side. There is a depth of paint on the outside only slightly thinner than the metal casing. Having got this off the door (literally having to chisel off the paint join) I find that it would seem that no-one in 150? 200? years has bothered to remove it when painting, as it was bare wood underneath.
As usual, a bit of broken-off key was rattling around the bottom of this one; and a grub screw I can't find a role for, which is a bit puzzling.
