Christmas Day - Behind Bars

We were visiting for lunch on Christmas Day, however on arrival we were told we had arrived too early and to go away again and come back in half an hour or so!

What to do? Well all the pubs are shut, so we returned to the bar at Malmaison, sitting at the same table we had left about 12 hours before. The "Scotch Malt Whisky Society" meet at Malmaison, there is an extensive selection of whiskies, guided tastings can also be arranged. The photo here shows the tasting room which is normally closed except when it is being used for a tasting.

From what I could see the staff who had been working the previous day were not on duty on Christmas Day, and it looked like they were going to be pretty busy for lunch.

After a suitable interval, possibly a little longer than intended we returned to our host. After distributing and opening presents we had an excellent lunch, staggered somewhat between courses so as to be able to fully appreciate the meal.
