Tax Freedom Day

Read in the newspaper that today is the Swiss Tax Freedom Day. Unfortunately it doesn‘t mean that today everything is tax free...

It‘s just a theoretical calculation, how many days and weeks a nation as a whole has to work in order to pay all sort of taxes. Switzerland has achieved an average result of 5 months and 13 days, i.e. from tomorrow on we work for us and not anylonger for taxes.

Some other countries with a better rating:
Australia: 3 months, 12 days
USA: 3 months, 15 days
UK: 4 months, 8 days

And with a Tax Freedom Day later in the year:
Sweden: 5 months, 22 days
Germany: 6 months, 9 days
France: 6 months, 26 days
