An ordinary life....

Dundurn Parish Church...

Yesterday evening when I checked the weather forecast for today, there was an amber weather warning for rain.  Our local weatherman warned of a deluge and suggested we all stay home.

This morning I tentatively opened the bedroom blind and was most confused to see a bright, pleasant looking  morning.  It won't last I thought.

By lunchtime it was still bright so David suggested we go out for lunch.  Didn't have to ask me twice.  We ended up at the golf club eating a very plain sounding but absolutely delicious ham salad.

The table next to us had a very interesting group of very well-to-do older ladies, holding a rather loud conversion.  As we awaited the arrival of our salads we were entertained by their views on women in politics.  Apparently Theresa May does not dress the part but Margaret Thatcher did.  They had no love for any of the current women candidates in the run for PM (which is just as well as they've now been eliminated from the race) and I had to bite my tongue for a full five minutes to stop myself shouting out PARKINSON! as they tried so hard to remember the name of the tv interviewer who first interviewed Billy Connelly on national tv in the 1970s.  Thankfully they remembered in the end.

After lunch, with no sign of the promised rain, we decided to go for a drive and just see where the road took us.  We ended up on a back road from Braco to Comrie that we'd never been on before, which had some beautiful open views (see extra).

Of course once we reached Comrie we had to carry on the short distance to St Fillan's and Loch Earn where we sat on the usual bench looking up the loch and surrounded by the ducks, who looked very disappointed when we didn't produce any food.  Oops.

As we headed out of St Fillans I managed to get a shot of the very charming Dundurn Parish Church (another in extras)  One day I will get out of the car and photograph it properly but I'd run out of time today.

When we got home the weather was still fine so not sure what happened to the deluge that was promised.  Hope the threat has passed and not just delayed!
