Boxing Day Surfer

The weather forecast was poor for today, but it turned out to be even worse than forecast. We set out late morning in the hope of doing a walk in the Loughor Estuary Nature Reserve, but as we drove in that direction the rain set in and we ended up instead at the Kings Head Inn in Llangennith.

The weather was much the same when we emerged from the pub after an enjoyable lunch and a fine pint of Gower Power, so we abandoned all thoughts of a walk and headed back to the holiday cottage.

Later in the afternoon it brightened up a little and I went for a short stroll with G down to the beach at Horton. We were surprised at how many hardy souls were braving the weather on the beach, including this surfer who was taking advantage of the impressive waves being whipped up by the strong wind.
