Office Sunrise.
The countdown begins. All together now: FIVE!....
I'll have to wait until the 6th before I can carry that one on. For the confused ones: this is a countdown of my last days in my secondment office. Cold and clear in Aberdeen today, really really slippy on the way into work - early, as I'd been at the gym with V from my office body-combatting away the sleepyness at 7.00am this morning. The sunrise was gorgeous from the high-rise I'm working in at the moment, though.
I can't believe it's Friday already today! The week has flown past. When I got home from work, M was curled up asleep on the sofa - it's been a long day for him I think. Someone in his team is leaving soon, and his workload is going to increase significantly - I feel very sorry for him.
We decided to get ready and go out for dinner at Jewel in the Crown - a great Indian restaurant near our house. When M worked offshore we used to go out for dinner all the time when he was home: too much really, it wasn't a treat any more. Now we're both based in Aberdeen full-time, we end up cooking at home much more often and hardly going out, so it was nice to get dressed up for dinner. It was so icy by the time we were heading out that M decided to drive us in and leave the car - I was sliding down the pavement outside our house!
After eating an obscene amount of lovely food, we staggered slowly over to Revolution for a drink; but I think we're both a bit old for places like that these days... Nowhere to sit, and music too loud to have a conversation over. I had a very disappointing (but expensive!) cocktail, but when we finished our drinks we decided to move on to the Braided Fig; mine and M's favourite bar.
M's Mum, Dad, sisters and one of the sisters' boyfriends had been out for tea too, so they all joined us for a drink later. It was really nice to sit and catch up over a G&T or two. M's Mum got chatting to a couple that were sitting near us, and it became obvious that the couple thought that myself, M and his sisters were all siblings - we had a laugh about it but I can see why... I do look very similar to M's sisters; all blonde hair, a similar fashion sense and the same age.
We headed home first as M's away to Oklahoma tomorrow for 8 days on business, so straight to bed for us and an earlyish alarm set so that M can pack.
