Rush Hour.

Secondment office today. A different pace. The traffic is crazy at the moment... This was taken on my way home, with the cars and buses rushing past, no one noticing me on the pavement dressed all in workplace-black and blending in, balancing the camera on a railing.

I had a lovely lunchtime catch up with an old work colleague today, who has had twin boys in the time since I last saw her. She looks great, and her boys are beautiful. So different, she tells me, that she can hardly believe they're twins. Her other little boy is at a really nice age - beginning to join in conversations and funny as anything.

Including tomorrow, I only have 5 more days at my secondment office before I leave, which I'm quite pleased about. On the day I leave, I will have been there 8 months - it was only a 2-month placement! I've learned a lot, but I'm ready to go back to my office full-time now, I miss my office buddies and I need to get my teeth stuck into another project. It'll be weird leaving my secondment office though, and all the nice people I work with here.

Tonight M was out for a drink with a friend, but came home hungry as the pub hadn't been serving food until later. Luckily I was in the process of making lemon- and rice wine prawns with egg fried rice and leeks. I think M enjoyed it more than me!

We stayed up late as M had been at home all day rather than at work (from which he usually comes home shattered), welding a boiler together for a hot-tub he's making for our house. He'd needed a day to catch up and get himself sorted as he goes away to America on Saturday for a week of seminars. I'll miss him! It's weird to have him away again after we'd moved away from the offshore thing. A week still feels like nothing though - not after the 3 week stints we used to go through! Just enough time for me to get sorted for Christmas and have the house looking beautiful for his return.
