Cherries
A certain amount of dangling from ladders was employed to pick 3.5kg of very ripe cherries from our trees. They are small and have a slightly tart edge to their sweetness.Eating them warm from the sun is the best way to enjoy them in my opinion.
But we had enough to make some jam and compote.still a lot on the trees but just inaccessible.
Terry’s last full day. We bbqed a Florentine steak which was quite strenuous in the heat. Next week the Saharan breakout of boiling air is predicted to raise temperatures to 38C in Florence.
I’m watering the garden like mad while there is still water. Weeks have passed without rain. The broadbean harvest is ginormous, we’ve had a first plate of potatoes and onions have taken on a more purposeful air.
Tomatoes, peppers and aubergine are motoring and the chickpeas and sunflowers are up.
I’m still coaxing tiny second time lucky celeriac seedlings and watch over my melon plants with care.
