Sycamore Gap

It was a lovely crisp and frosty morning.  I had a lovely run and then it was back home to get ready for a Hadrian’s Wall walk.  We drove to Housesteads and walked along to Steel Rigg.  It’s not that far, but is pretty strenuous, being very up and down.  We refuelled with crisp and caramel wafers at Steel Rigg and walked back along a track through fields, with a great view of the where we had walked.  The walking was much easier, as it was much flatter, however we did have a stressful point, where we had to get through a congregation of cows and calves to get to our exit point of a field.  I am not keen of fields of cows at the best of times, and certainly not keen on cows and calves, but we made it through and I didn’t look back!

The ground became much boggier after he cows, but we made it back to the wall, and had a bit more uphill walking to get back to Housesteads.

  We stopped off in Corbridge on the way back and spent some considerable time in the lovely bookshop. I ended up with two books for me and two for BB.  TT was staying strong and wasn’t buying anything, then chose two books and I ended up with A third which was recommended by the lovely bookseller.  We took a wrong turning when we left and weren’t quite sure where we were headed, but made it home eventually and went out for tea.  It was then home for more Line of Duty.
