From countryside to city
Backblip
This morning we woke up in the peace and tranquillity of El Guarda in our beautiful apartment and packed up ready for the road trip to Jerez.
First of all we sat out in the warm sun for breakfast, had the final chat with our hosts Miranda and Hans who told us they were selling and looking for another place after 5 years here. We wished them well and know after experiencing their exceptional hospitality here that they will have another success in the future.
A little way down the road we stopped off at one of the white villages, Zagora, then around an hour later we arrived at Jerez and dropped off the hire car and a taxi was ordered to take us to our Airbnb apartment in the old town for the next three nights.
The apartment was part of one of the sherry houses and was completely adequate, big and airy, for us only going to be sleeping here as out and about most of the time
Unpacked and walked to one of the many Plazas for some food, had the best tuna (belly) that I’ve ever tasted - expensive but so melt in the mouth tender. Mmmmmmmm.
We were in Jerez last September so we knew our way around here and decided we would freshen up and then head up to the place where all the action was - the massive parkland for the week long Sherry, Flamenco and Horse Fair. The reason we came back after being told about it last September.
About a half hour walk from our apartment and as we walked we saw lots of ladies in their brightly coloured flamenco dresses. And all ages from the very young to the very old and they looked fabulous!!! I wanted one so I could twirl and click my heels and stamp my feet!
We hadn’t planned to come this evening but this was just to see where it was and get our bearings for the journey back tomorrow.
Such excitement!
