View over the Mosel

The Mosel is a huge river, set to get even bigger when it joins with the Rhine a few miles downstream. In this image it is meandering in a horseshoe around the town of Pierspont. (Not that far from Frankfurt) It is a spectacular view which could be improved for the photographer with a few more stopping points and some pruning of the foliage! The whole area is covered in vines - just how much wine does the world really need?
And just look at that road going down the mountain!

Tonight we are parked on a site overlooking the Mosel. The vineyards opposite are on land that is near vertical - we are wondering about the practicalities of planting, maintaining and harvesting the grapes in this very hilly environment.
