The cliffs of Vestmanna
Another island today, several sub sea tunnels away from Torshavn we arrived at the little township of Vestmanna on the island of Streymoy. We took a ferryboat out of the fjord to the open sea and along to the cliffs that are home to puffins, kittiwake, artic terns, fulmer and even some cormorants. Not the abundance of birds as yesterday but to me atleast this time, they were not the attraction - it was the towering, slightly menacing cliffs. Basalt stone reaching up over 2,000 feet.
We spent a good two hours manouvering in and out of the fissures and arches carved by the restless sea, all the time with a mist swirling around us.
