Tide's Out
On our last full day in England we decided to have a day on the nearest bit of coast, at Lytham St Annes.
So here we are with the tide out and us heading for the water's edge. As usual we didn't get there as it gets very wet in the last hundred meters or so.
On the way back we searched for, and picked up, sea coal (extra picture). These small lumps of coal come from coal seams further out to sea but get washed up the beach. There are just enough pieces to stop you giving up the hunt, but not enough to allow you to fill your bag and give up!
The land seen on the horizon, hovering in the heat haze, is the coast of North Wales, across the sand and beyond the Ribble and Mersey estuaries.
(This is a backblip - see 5 July for today's blip.)
