Vindolanda

A murky day, but we headed to Vindolanda Roman fort, which wasn't far from where we were staying. It's a fascinating place - somewhere you can't really get your head around because of all the amazing history of the site. The museum is really well done too. They've found so many incredible Roman artefacts and reckon they've only excavated 24% of it so far. There's a great collection of Roman shoes to see, haha!

Volunteers are working on the site all the time and you can watch them working - you can see some to the left of the picture. If anyone wants a wee holiday you can go and help out - two weeks minimum though!
