NJ’s Pod of Dolphins

Not too bad for a camera photo captured while my toes were in the Belmar Beach surf. Fortunately for us ‘shoobies’ -(explanation later), the pod included not just 10-12 dolphins but more than 30 in groups of 3-4 (like I sorta caught here). It’s an excitement easily recognized especially since it brings most all the beach loungers to their feet squinting into the sun, arm extended, finger pointing, to follow the dolphins graceful progress. And if we’re really fortunate, later in the day we see them again as they traverse back up the coast in the opposite direction.
Shoobies: named for the day-trippers or summer rental people who carried their lunch to the beach in a shoebox.
