At the Beach

After packing up this morning we went for a walk over to the cliffs overlooking Veules-les-Roses. What a glorious view! We could see up and down the coast for miles. White cliffs and blue seas, gorgeous!!
Once we'd packed up, we headed down the coast a bit to Saint-Valery-en-Caux. There were a few drops of rain on the way and the skies darkened but when we got to the beach under the amazing chalk cliffs the sun had come out again.
What a beach!!! Towering cliffs, a very photogenic light house, blue sea, beach flowers everywhere, giant boulders of chalk which had fallen from the cliffs - the Little Misses thought it was hilarious that it was actually chalk and you could actually write with it like actual real chalk!!!!!
Mr K and Miss E stayed in Marshall (parked just out of this photo to the right) while Miss L, Nana, Papa and I walked into town in search of a patisserie and a supermarket. We didn't have high hopes of finding either as it was a Sunday afternoon but we were in luck - an amazing patisserie selfing delicious pastries and bread. And wrapping it all up spectacularly (See extras)
And also a Carrefour (my supermarket chain of choice in France!!) where we stocked up on patê, celeriac remoulade, semolina, cheese and rice pudding.
Just the essentials!!
We also looked into the beautiful church. It's modern as the original was bombed in the war as was most of Saint Valerie. It was incredible with blue light streaming in through the windows. Miss L donated and lit a couple of candles.
We headed back to Marshall and tried our best to eat all the goodies before saying goodbye to Nana and Papa. They're staying on the coast near Veules-les-Roses for a few days and we've headed up the Cherbourg Peninsular to a campsite a few miles outside Cherbourg.
We've never been further up than Arromanches before so it's exciting to head into new territory.
The journey was quick although obviously we had to ring the campsite to let them know we weren't going to be there until after 6pm! They said it was fine and our information would be taped to the Reception window. We're getting used to that!!
The campsite is fab! High above the sea - fabulous views! The Little Misses were off on their bikes the minute we got there. They're happy!!!
