There But Not There
Today was a long one. We were moored overnight at Caudebec-en-Caux. After breakfast we collected our packed lunches and travelled by coach for 2 hours to Bayeux where we saw the tapestry which describes how William the Conqeurer sailed to England and won the Battle of Hastings. We enjoyed our picnic in the sunshine and had some time for a quick look around the town. Then it was a short drive to the British War Cemetry. So sad to see the graves of young men still in their teens. Next stop was Arromanches where the artificial harbours were built in order that the British, Amercan and Canadian troops could land on D Day. Another 2 hours on the coach and we were back on board in time for dinner.
